SBS big fish tactics - Part 3 - How to use a float?
There were open questions from the previous part: how effective the presented hook linking method proved to be and how successful we, the SBS SziKo Team, were in the extreme conditions. Before revealing these details I will show you a special and very simple technique so you can fish confidently in places behind obstructions which seemed inaccessible. If I have excited your curiosity already, please keep on reading and watch my short movie to see our extreme catches and the white (albino) Grass Carp only a few people have seen, as I promised in the previous part.
Many of you must have faced the problem that the place you think to be the best seems inaccessible; it is impossible to fish there due to a large obstruction. I will help you solve this problem and present to you the following additional rig, the float.
It is very easy to make a float from a simple piece of styrofoam even on site.
Follow the steps I will show you:
Cut off a 10 x 10 cm
4-5 cm thick square from the piece of styrofoam …
… then make a hole in the centre
Thread the main line through it, but first remove the lead from the end rig.
Then replace the lead. It is so simple.
And the float’s use will be even simpler:
Search for a clear area among the obstructions. I have chosen this obstruction.
Let the end rig down onto the clearing among the obstructions…
… then throw your feeding bait onto it. In this case I used Squid & Octopus boilies and
20 mm High Oil Halibut pellets and a few tigernuts.
Then lay the line on the water surface with a gentle movement;
with this step you will prevent the float body from slipping away on the main line.
Always keep the main line stretched while you are heading towards the bank.
With this step you prevent the line from sinking under the water and getting stuck into the obstructions which proved to be underwater “fish residences”.
If there is a catch you should only do one thing: try to route the fish near the unobstructed water surface as quickly as you can once it is above the end rig (handle the fish with care). Watch my short movie linked to this article to see how to use the float.
But I won’t strain your nerves any further; let us see the pictures of some catches:
The most beautiful fish was this 19 kg perfect common Carp.
Watch my short movie linked to this article to see how a really action-packed tiring went on and how we tired out the other Carp:
I hope you liked my short movie and you will read and watch us the next time again.

New Brand Identity at SBS
The well-known yellow-black color scheme will of course remain, but at the same time, you will find a new font and a new logo symbolizing carp fishing on SBS platforms and product packaging, which better expresses the company's profile and identity. -
Spring through my eyes
Last season I was less active in my fishing, so I decided to start this year as quickly as possible, in early spring. I wanted to trick as many carp as possible, of course take pictures and release them back to their home as soon as possible. -
