In the first part of this series I introduced the SBS Flumino range that we used to achieve a world record. This is going to be available in stores early this year. In the following article you get an insight about the end of the competition and you also have the chance to get acquainted with the Flumino products for cold waters.

Now when I am looking at the images from the competition I always remember how strongly the fish were feeding at the feeding area, thanks to the brand new bait, as you will see in the video below this article. After the summertime success we had great results with the product at the beginning of winter as well.

Inexhaustible possibilities

We can complete the fluro coloured 16 mm diameter soluble-buoyant bait with a small amount of groundbait hidden in a PVA mesh. With this step we can prepare a small but concentrated quantity of feeding for the fish. The groundbait already contains a special coloured material which will create a yellow-green cloud in the water around the bait. The effect is going to be more intense if we put few drops of the Flumino Liquid Concentrate directly on the PVA mesh.

The other concentrate contains a material, in contrast to the vertical one, which extends horizontally in the water, therefore we recommend using it for the first feeding when we begin to fish or we can mix a small amount directly into the groundbait that we can knead into the bomb paste.

Success is often in the small details

Perhaps there are some of you out there who know the simple trick of how to fix a small PVA pack easily to the hooklink without taking it off. It is a useful tip especially when we are taking part in a competition where every minute counts. The first step we prick the hook into the PVA mesh, and in the middle of the hooklink we can tie a loop and we can fix it over the knot of the PVA. We pull the loop so it is ready to cast.

Since there are buoyant baits included in the All in Flumino Boxes it is important to mention that we have to tie a hooklink which fits perfectly to the pop up bait so that it floats correctly above the hook. The simplest solution is if we tie a 'hair rig' and we put a small silicone tube on the shank of the hook, so it secures the correct position of the bait.

The combination of the hook and bait behave perfectly when the point of the hook is just touching the the lakebed and the bait floats above. The weight of the hook can make a difference, that is why we recommended a test and if it is necessary we can chip the bait a little until we get the desired result.

Within reach of a ton

We got going during the competition and hour by hour we got closer to reaching the legendary catch of a ton. For few days we led the biggest fish prize with a 14.46 kg Mirror Carp, but the real delightful moment was the 71st hour of the competition when we reached the one ton.

Flumino either winter or summer

We made the video below the article in late autumn, but thanks to the bait developed for the cooler water we had a great result in few hours. At the beginning of winter, or early spring, when the temperature of the water is not reaching 10˚C the sweet flavoured Flumino products are recommended. With the cranberry or match special flavoured Flumino Groundbait Mixers we can a get a perfectly functioning groundbait for cold water.

The flavour of the Groundbait Mixer included in the All in Flumino Box defines the period, when and what product we should use. The boxes are going to be available in two kinds of flavours for the summer, and two others for the winter season.

At the beginning of the session we can use a spomb, spod, groundbait sling, or a giant catapult.

Final result of the competition

After we had reached the one ton we had 25 hours left till the end of the competition. We made a resolution that we wouldn’t stop and we were going to fight till the end to reach the best result that we could. Luckily we had bites continually night and day so it was much easier to overcome our tiredness. During the 96 hours we only had few minutes to have a little rest. Finally the SBS Szi-Ko Team set a world record with a catch of 1415.05 kg in 96 hours at the II. International Carp Angling Competition in Mór.
